Competition rules

Prints can be either colour or black and white.

The print classes are sub-divided between New Entrants, Intermediate and Advanced.  Members are placed in a class appropriate to their level of attainment.

Entries for Print competitions may have been processed by entrants themselves or otherwise. Digital prints are acceptable.

Prints including mount MUST NOT EXCEED 40cm x 50 cm.

All prints should be titled.

Prints entered in a club competition during one club year may not be entered in any club competition in any subsequent year except where the previous mark awarded was 6.5 out of ten or less.

When set subjects are specified, prints which do not comply with the subject will be disqualified.

Marks are given up to ten for each entry at the sole discretion of the judge.  Judges may in addition award a Seal of Merit to any entry which they consider worth it.  A record of points awarded shall be maintained by the Competition Secretary.

Any New Entrant achieving
72 points with 9 prints in one season (the highest marks being taken from the permitted maximum of 12 prints submitted) will automatically be transferred to the Intermediate Section from the start of the following season. However the Committee retains the right to invite a member to compete in the Advanced Section in either category if in their opinion the member's work merits such advancement. Any member in the Intermediate Section achieving 77 points with 9 prints will be automatically transferred to the Advanced Section from the start of the following season.

Trophies are awarded at the end of the season to the members gaining the highest number of points in each of the classes. The winner must have submitted a minimum of nine entries in the appropriate class and the points to count will be taken from that member's best nine entries.
